personality
Tei usually comes off as happy-go-lucky, but there is a lot of trouble brewing just below the surface. She harbors a large amount of guilt over her past, and has only relatively recently begun to move on from it. Tei can become upset or frustrated easily. Should she happen to get in one, it is generally hard to rouse her from a moody rut.
Tei is a yandere, meaning that she is extremely protective of her romantic interest. However, she has begun to learn some boundaries, as well as how to handle most "threats" without completely eliminating them. Nevertheless, she is not above threatening people or showing off her power, and if she deems it necessary, she is more than happy to beat up the competition. Nowadays, she will only intentionally attempt to kill somebody if she deems them to be a very serious threat. Provided someone doesn't claim to be murderer, make threats, try to get fresh with her partner, or keep egging her on, Tei is generally very safe to be around. Indeed, Tei can easily be used and manipulated simply because she tolerates too much.
While she is usually down to chat or throw a spontaneous party, Tei is actually an introvert at heart--just not a shy one. Most of her free time is spent alone, either doing research, studying, prepping for the apocalypse, or doting over her significant other. She may come off as a party animal due to her willingness to get drunk and cause trouble, but this is partially the result of her being overworked. If she's functioning well, she can juggle her responsibilities well, but doesn't really have a healthy way of relaxing besides running. Tei has been known to dabble in drug use to help her calm down, but she is obsessed with maintaining a sense of control over this. To that end, she quit smoking (tobacco, at least) in 2015. While she does not deny occasionally using other drugs, she will suddenly get uncharacteristically secretive if someone begins pressing for details.
It's not just her own significant other she will dote over. This yandere is a hopeless romantic, and will swoon over any love story. It is no secret she has several cheesy romcoms under her bed. It's best not to borrow them without asking, because there are other things under that bed too, such as indefensible trashy smut novels, and a pet squid who has read said smut.
On a day to day basis, Tei's ability to handle life depends almost entirely upon her relationships with other people. This is truly her bedrock, and any incident troubles her love life and/or close friendships severely affects all aspects of her functioning.
While Tei does not usually care much for her safety, she is not masochist. She is bold, but at the same time not fearless. There are many anxieties below the surface, most stemming from psychological trauma -- such as nearly drowning giving her a fear of water and previous abandonment giving her a belief that loss of people she cares about is both something that must prevented at all costs yet also inevitable. It's worth noting that if she doesn't have a stable relationship (usually romantic, but sometimes close friendships will suffice), she quickly becomes apathetic about her own survival.
While she does have personal goals and aspirations, she sees herself as somebody whose main purpose in life to make other peoples' lives better or safer. It's a quasi-spirtual belief, if sometimes an unhealthy one.
Although she used to call herself a pacifist, Tei does get a little bit of a thrill from violence, unrest, or arguments, thus sometimes eggs people on when a wiser person would try to deescalate. She is aware of her nature and does attempt to control it, to varying degrees of success. Indeed, it is worth remembering that a tendency towards violence is not a result of uncontrollable anger but rather necessary to protect people, a means to an end, or a bit of fun. However, if she thinks her partner is in immediate danger, Tei will competely snap and be nigh-impossible to reason with. She is she not a sadist in a sexual sense, but if she determines someone to be sufficiently deserving, she will be more than happy to deal what she determines to be just punishment. Sometimes, Tei hurts people more than she means to, as she has gone through so much pain herself that she forgets not everybody is used to it.
Tei is not delusional in the classic mental health sense, nor is she stupid, but she has been known to come to bizarre conclusions.
